Music Monday: our bands of choice

Every Monday, Twitter users give a shout-out to some of the bands they think are worth paying attention to!

So, honouring that tradition - here are a few of the musicians playing Wolverhampton soon

Local pop punk band Maycomb playing the Slade Rooms along with The Midnight Club, on 21st August Book Now. Check out their tunes on their Myspace site (here) ... but one question: where WAS that picture on their Myspace profile taken?? I recognise it, it's definitely Wolverhampton, but I can't quite place it ....

Next up, Yeasayer - an unusual band hailing from Brooklyn who bring together indie, experimental, shoegazer and even some African influences (think Paul Simon Gracelands and Vampire Weekend but mellow). Definitely worth checking out their Myspace site (here). It's such a coup getting them to The Slade Rooms on 25 Aug - don't miss out. Book Now

Next, something a bit heavier - Signify - who have their EP launch on the 27th. This is old school metal delivered with fury with some definite nods to Pantera and the more sleaze rock sound of Lamb of God. Give these local lads some support - have a listen at their Myspace (here)

They'll be supported on the night by Rambling Boy, Point Black Fury and The Whiskey Syndicate. Book Now

Finally, the delightful Emma Scott (of Kerrang Radio fame) brings her legendary Emma Scott Presents .. nights to our fair city with a cracking line-up.

On 3rd September she's bringing local lads Blak Can (Myspace here)Book Now - who deliver a very accomplished sound - think indie, electro rock ....
