FREE MUSIC Love Amongst Ruin (ex-Placebo)

UPDATED WITH RECENT REVIEW

We love it when a musician in one of out favourite bands goes off to try something else. This is the case with Steve Hewitt - one time drummer of Placebo, who is now with a new band called Love Amongst Ruin. Check out the videos and FREE music download below.

You can spot elements of Placebo in their music, but there is also a heathy dose of Queens of the Stone Age. Linkin Park and Foo Fighters

The self titled debut album came out on 6th September 2010, preceded by the single So Sad (Fade).

We are delighted to have the band playing The Slade Rooms on 31st October 2010 - do not miss out.

REVIEWS FROM RECENT US TOUR

"It was the best club show I’ve seen this year" BCT Review

Frightened Rabbit Finish US Tour in Chicago Spinner UK

OTHER REVIEWS

"they come on like a Celtic Kings Of Leon. If you’re a fan of Scottish indie rock, this could well be your new favourite band." The Independent

Frightened Rabbit are an indie rock outfit from Selkirk in Scotland (now based in Glasgow). They formed in 2003 and since then have released 3 studio albums, Sing the Greys, The Midnight Organ Fight and The Winter of Mixed Drinks (which was released this year)

The band's made up of Scott Hutchison (lead vocals, rhythym guitar, lyricist), Grant Hutchison (drums), Billy Kennedy (bass and guitar), Andy Monaghan (guitar) and Gordon Skene (keyboards)

The band have supported Death Cab for Cutie, played on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, featured on several TV show soundtracks, and were handpicked by Belle and Sebastian to play the Bowlie Weekender festival in 2010. FREE MUSIC! The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster

The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster are an odd band. They have their uber-dedicated followers, but have, criminally, always missed out on superstar status.

This is down to the fact that they've always been under the psychobilly umbrella, but a more fair description, is probably quirky rock. However, this band are definitely worth checking out. They recently headlined the 3rd stage at the Sonisphere Festival and put on, as usual, an amazing show. They are playing The Slade Rooms on Saturday 30th Oct! Check out the live reviews below, plus a few of their videos and see you there!

Gaslight Anthem: "you really can believe the hype"

Channelling a a whole lotta Springsteen, Gaslight Anthem burst onto the scene last year with their second album, and the epic track '59 Sound (video below)

The timing was perfect, and they helped forge a whole new wave of folk rock sounds. Having the blessing of The Boss, and appearing with him during his headline slot at Glastonbury hasn't done them any harm at all.

Always picking up fierce live reviews, get involved and do NO miss out on one of the most exciting bands of recent years!!!

And finally FREE MUSIC here from local boys Isolated Atoms.

Head HERE to download a couple of tracks by this lot, see what you think - and if you like it, well there's a chance to see them live.

They join the very lovely Emma Scott for one of her Presents ... shows at The Slade Rooms, along with Century Man, Mr Twist and Of Kings and Captains

The #830question ... your thoughts

For the past few months we've been running something called the #830question. It's a general music question, whether its coming up with song suggestions, your thoughts on favourite musicians, etc - which we send out to Facebook and Twitter at 8.30am every day

A lot of you love it, and we've been having tonnes of fun.

In fact it was so popular that we decided to send the same question out again at 8.30pm in case people were missing it in the morning and might like to get involved.

So far, it's been a success with some new faces getting involved, which is great! However, I also know that some of you more regular Facebook users are seeing the same question appearing twice in your feed.

So, you decide - we'll keep running the evening question as well as the morning question for another week, but you can have your say on it via this little poll! We'd love your thoughts ...

(if the poll below doesn't appear in your browser - click here

KoRn - nu-metal gods return to Wolverhampton TOMORROW

It's hard to imagine a time without Korn! One of the first, if not THE first, nu-metal band - a genre that gave metal a well overdue kick in the behind in the 90's - they are often credited with sparking an entire rethink of that type of music.

They've had their ups and downs - 2 original members left the band, but they have maintained their ferocious live performance! Plus, the current album has been hailed as a serious return to form for them.

If you haven't got your ticket for the show yet, get it now - you will NOT be disappointed.
