Rollins teams up with Flaming Lips for Pink Floyd project

Henry Rollins has joined up with The Flaming Lips and Peaches for an exciting Pink Floyd themed project

The band have re-recorded the classic album "Dark Side of the Moon" (available on ITunes this week) which they will perform, in full on New Years Eve in Oklahoma City.

Rollins, formerly of Black Flag, and now a reknowned public speaker, and performer Peaches, will be on hand to provide spoken interludes between the songs.

I've seen Rollins spoken word set before - it's well worth going along to. Check out his diary blogs here

RATM chart victory ...

Well - they did it! After a huge internet / social networking campaign the Rage Against the Machine track "Killing in the Name" DID reach the top of the UK singles charts yesterday.

The campaign, which started as a joke, was in direct response to the fact that the XFactor talent show winner has been the best selling track in Christmas week for the last few years running.

The best news is that Rage Against the Machine have promised to put on a huge FREE show in the UK next year to say thank you!

Can't wait for that? How about these?

John Mayer hits back at Kardashian link rumours

John Mayer has been hitting back at reports about a meeting he had with socialist Kim Kardashian

US satellite radio Sirius/XM made a bit of a deal about the fact he "spoke to her" during a break from a radio performance, but he reckons anything more than that is fiction, made up by PR types!

Now he DOES have a track record of dating famous women (Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson) but according to a recent post on Twiter, Kim is NOT of them:

"I see @kimkardashian at Sirius/XM and say hello like a gentleman and you want to spin a gossip story at my expense? **** you!"

Mayer plays the Civic Hall on 19th January 2010 ... (totally sold out) so why not try these instead?

RATM V X-Factor - the latest!!

Is it going to happen? Will the angry rock band Rage Against the Machine manage to steal the number 1 spot in the charts away from X Factor winner Joe McElderry?

A fervent online campaign, and the promise of a huge FREE show by RATM if they do top the charts, has placed their metal anthem Killing in the Name at the top of the ITunes charts, which is a good sign, but the physical sales of The Climb could put Joe ahead!

And don't forget 90's alt music fans - The Dorch Christmas Reunion at the Wulfrun Hall on 27th December!

Trivium - all change?

Rumours from the Trivium camp are that drummer Smith is OUT of the band

Back in October it was announced that he would not be heading out on the road (to take care of personal issues), and was being replaced, for now, by the bands former roadie Nick Augusto

We're hearing the departure is permanent and that the band will be looking for a new drummer.

Trivium will play the Wulfrun Hall on 23rd March 2010 buy tickets here

Radio Wildhearts?

According to the bands blog, The Wildhearts frontman GInger is pitching for his own radio show.

No word yet which station he has approached, but he promises to ".. educate and entertain with a veritable barrage of unfamiliar delights chosen specifically to stroke the imagination and coddle the mind"

He's a funny, and fairly outspoken speaker - any radio show with him at the helm would be WELL worth a listen! He's also stated that he will be involved in at least 2 albums next year as well as some other - as yet secret - projects.

Watch this space for details!!

In other Wildhearts news, the band have given us a sneak preview of the merchandise that will be on sale at their XMess tour shows - including the one at the Wulfrun Hall on Monday - check them out here

The Wildhearts will be supported by The Loyalties and Antiproduct

90's rock legends in Number 1 challenge ...

Rage Against the Machine are in the headlines at the moment, as their rock anthem Killing in The Name is being put forward as a rival to the X Factor single for the Christmas number 1 spot.

Around 800,000 people have now joined a Facebook group in a bid to get the tune to the top of the charts this Sunday, ahead of Joe McElderrry's cover of "The Climb".

XFactor judge Simon Cowell is said to be unimpressed with the campaign, calling is "cynical" but at the moment it is a very real risk - with the track currently currently leading the way on downloads alone, However, CD singles of the talent show entry are hitting the shops today, which could just tip the balance!

Are fan of this tune, and 90's rock/alt/indie classics? Don't forget to get your tickets for The Dorch Christmas Reunion at the Wulfrun Hall on 27th December!
