Wouldn't It Be Good to see Nik Kershaw in Wolverhampton?

Did you know that Nick Kershaw wrote Chesney Hawkes hit "The One and Only" and the Let Loose hit "Crazy for You"?

Well Nik Kershaw is following in the footsteps of young Mr Hawkes (who played the Little Civic last night) by playing the same venue on the 11th March

Don't hang about, Kershaw always puts on a great show and we'd hate for you to miss out

Oh and you know us here at the WolvesCivic love an excuse to raid Youtube, so here goes!

All together now "I am the one and onleeeeeee" ...

Yes Chesney Hawkes is coming to Wolverhampton Little Civic on Friday evening (19 February 2010)

The 90's singer songwriter and producer has come a long way since a certain massive song (5 WEEKS at number 1 in the charts), and now he's bringing his acoustic tour to our fair town!

Not only did he have other successful singles and collaborations with Fountains of Wayne and 80's legend Nik Kershaw (who actually wrote "The One and Only", did you know that?) he has also made a name for himself songwriting and producing for other performers.

This show is a must for the fans, as it seems he'll be running through his popular songs and some of his personal favourites!

Need a reminder? Oh, ok then ...

Fear Factory in Wolverhampton tonight!

Yes those newly reformed legends of metal are playing the Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall THIS EVENING

It's been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for the band, with fall outs and legal threats, but now former foes Burton C Bell and Dino Cazares have put it all behind them and gone out on the road

we love them, you love them - but if you need any reminding WHY - check out these videos!

Trivium announce new drummer

After the departure of Travis Smith, Trivium have announced that their old mate Nick Augusto will be joining the band full time.

He stood in for Smith on the bands Autumn '09 tour of the States.

And they've already put him to work recording 2 new tracks, one called Shattering the Skies Above - check them out here

... here's frontman Matt Heafy

“We’re really happy to have our good friend and fellow Floridian Nick Augusto join the Trivium family. Nick’s drumming is very technical and diverse and he brings a real intense energy to the band and we can’t wait for everyone to hear the new song, ‘Shattering The Skies Above’, that we just recorded with Nick. I think it’s the best Trivium recording we’ve ever done; it’s raw, full of energy, and I think Nick’s drumming really pushed us to a new level.”

Trivium play the Wulfrun Hall on 23rd March, along with Chimaira, Whitechapel, and Rise To Remain - TICKETS HERE

Once the tour ends, the band will head back to the studio to work on their next album for Roadrunner Records.

Miles Hunt and Erica Nockalls: Little Civic 30th Jan 2010

Miles Hunt is pretty well known in these 'ere parts for his role as as frontman of local legends The Wonder Stuff.

Here we see him in a different context - playing acoustically with band's strikingly beautiful violinist Erica Nockalls.

With two albums already under their belts, the pair are a joy to watch on stage, peforming both songs from their own back catalogue, and some Wonder Stuff favourites.

But it was in-between the songs that things got interesting - with Miles, ever the storyteller, regailing us with some gems from The Wonder Stuff's history (for example, did you know that Kirsty MacColl ended up singing on Welcome to the Cheap Seats after Miles drunkenly met her in a studio corridor during the recording of the Never Love Elvis album?, or that members of the Wonder Stuff performed an impromptu piano version of Danny Boy backstage with Kris from Nirvana and members of Faith No More?)

Miles is a charming and engaging story teller, although clearly not engaging enough for the members of the audience who insisted on talking loudly throughout. They were put in their place by being told, in no uncertain terms, to "f*** off to the bar".

Tracks from the band's second album HUP featured heavily as it is to be the subject of several shows this spring. The band are recording it for a new deluxe version, as well as a DVD coming soon of their recent Birmingham HUP show!

In fact, Erica and Miles are a busy pair, planning a second Shared project this year, the first of which saw them work with the likes of Wayne Hussey (The Mission), Roddy Frame (Aztec Camera) and Nick Heyward. With the dream of taking over the small stage at a festival this summer with Shared 2's lineup, it seems they've got their work cut out.

Yes, it is definitely an older and wiser Miles Hunt we see today. if you come along to a Miles Hunt and Erica Nockalls show expecting the beer and anarchy of the old Stuffies days then you will be dissapointed. However, if you are happy to experience two musicians who come together to play feelgood folk and indie, and hear a damn good story to boot, then I guarantee you will leave with a wam fuzzy glow.
